JCC is developing two new Faculty Makerspaces for the Jamestown and Olean Campuses. The design of the studio allows instructors to create high quality, polished video projects which will engage students and increase their understanding of content.
Makerspace
The Makerspace equipment and services are here to primarily provide support to the JCC faculty and staff.
Equipment
The Jamestown Makerspace is located in HULT 155. It has two PC computers and one Mac computer loaded with basic and professional video editing software, along with tools for audio recording, post-production, and image design. The Jamestown Makerspace also includes a 3D printer, 3D scanner, a flatbed image scanner, a high-speed document scanner, and drawing tablets.
The Olean Makerspace is located in the TECH Learning Center. It has one PCÂ computer loaded with basic and professional video editing software, along with tools for audio recording, post-production, and image design.
Training
The TEI Team offers one-on-one assistance and training in hardware and software use. To schedule training email Stan Skrabut.
We also recommend that you watch the following Lynda.com courses to help you quickly start using the Makerspace:
Scheduling
In order to ensure fair access of Makespace facilities to our customers, we reserve the right to limit the use of any specific machine to two hours per day per person.
Customers more than 15 minutes late for an equipment-use appointment forfeit the use of that machine to others waiting at the Makerspace. The TEI Team will attempt to schedule customers who have lost their reservation on another machine.
To schedule time in the Makerspace, please select a time on one of the calendars below:
IMPORTANT: To schedule through the calendars, you will first have to log into your JCC Gmail account.
- Jamestown Makerspace Calendar
- Olean Makerspace Calendar (Makerspace is not yet available for use).
Important Considerations
Due to the potential of new media projects to occupy vast amounts of hard drive space, we request that our customers erase their project files from our hard drives promptly when their work is completed. Files left on the desktop will be removed immediately. We reserve the right to erase customer files older than 14 days on our hard drives without warning if they interfere with the operation of our equipment or our ability to serve other customers.
The TEI Team cannot be held responsible for lost customer files on Makerspace hard drives. Before departing the Makerspace, customers are advised to back up their project files to optical media, a networked storage device, or portable hard drive.
