How to Organize Your Blackboard Course List

How to Organize Your Blackboard Course List

If you are a faculty member who has taught for more than one term, you’re going to start noticing that your course list under Blackboard’s My Courses is starting to grow. After a while, this can be unwieldy and difficult to find your courses. Let me show you how you can control this.

Remove Courses From My Course List

The first thing that I want to show you is how to turn off courses that you don’t wish to see. Here are the steps:

Step 1 – Log into Blackboard.

Step 2 – Click on the gear in the upper right-hand corner of the My Courses module.

Click on the settings gear icon

Step 3 – Uncheck the boxes that are listed under Course Name for the courses that you do not wish to see.

Uncheck the boxes under Course Name

Step 4 – Click on the Submit button.

Click on the Submit button

Group by Term

Another way of controlling how you see your courses is to group everything by turn. When you do this, everything in the spring 2016 term would be in one group and the fall 2016 courses would be in another group. Here is how you can do this:

Step 1 – Log into Blackboard.

Step 2 – Click on the gear in the upper right-hand corner of the My Courses module.

Click on the settings gear icon

Step 3 – Click on the box that says Group by Term.

Check the Gourp by Term box

Step 4 – Click on the Submit button.

Click on the Submit button

At this time, you should be able to expand and contract each term to see the courses that you wish to say.

These are two methods that will help you control the number of courses that you see and make finding your courses a little more manageable. Anytime that you wish to see everything, you can always go back into the settings for My Courses and turn things back on.

If you need any help with this, please ask any member of the TEI team.
